Is there anything more fancier than a short vacation in September?

For those who have not finished at school days or families who are not looking for a last, local weekend before the temperatures decline, a stay in the transformed former workers in the Beaverbrook Hotel near Leatherhead in Surrey should be the top of the wish list.

The village in a remote forest on the 470 hectare Beaverbrook estate is a collection of 10 stick huts, which by Nicola Harding & Co. in 21 charming guest suites of the London interior design studio, Nicola Harding & Co. six -digit territory.

The Canadian-British press Baron and the politician Max Aitken, also known as Lord Beaverbrook (and a unique owner of the Evening Standard), built the property for £ 30,000 in 1910 after seeing it with his friend and author Rudyard Kipling on one trip. Other famous friends who visited the Lord Beaverbrook house were Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Harold MacMillan, the actress Elizabeth Taylor and the authors Rebecca West and HG Wells.

Today the Manor House is a luxury country hotel and a spa that is popular with honeymoon, families and gourmets.

The interiors of the main building come from designer Susie Atkinson, who also designed real estate for Soho House. No wonder that it is packed with opulent colors, fabrics and patterns. Think on Plüsch -Spatsofas, fringe curtains, tailor -made art and open fireplace. In the cozy bar area, pink walls are covered with framed botanical paintings by the Victorian botanical artist Marianne North.

The village is a relaxed, effortlessly chic alternative to the size of the main hotel – with all the luxury details that you would expect from the property.

The project to convert the cottages into 21 suites was led by Nicola Harding and doubled the hotel’s guest accommodation.

The cottages “had to be brought back to life”, says Harding of the project: “We were brought in to create the feeling of a traditional English village.”

“Guests are offered the selection of balconies, terraces and private gardens as well as vaulted ceilings, four -hunter beds and interconnected rooms.

Harding adds: “Six of the cottages have cute, suggested bunk beds that feel like railway carriages in a children’s story book.”

The rooms are named after historical literary and artistic figures, from the Brontë sisters to William Wordsworth, and enthusiastic guests will recognize subtle tributes in the form of accessories such as framed poems, quotations and books on open shelves.

Color and pattern conflicts are fresh and funny – think of green and pink, stripes against flower wallpaper – while striking, oversized lamps and statement armchairs give a lot of inspiration to take home.

The bathrooms are equipped with walk-in showers or free-standing baths, underground heating and Bamford toilet articles (Benjamin Wheeler).

Which space?

If a budget allows it, a stay in the main house is one for the storage books. The rooms here cost from £ 850 per night.

The village offers a slightly lower rate, a peaceful environment and just a short buggy trip from the main house. It is also closer to the garden house restaurant, which can address families or groups that celebrate a special occasion. The rooms in the village cost from £ 600 per night, including breakfast.

The garden house and the coach house also have guest rooms, some of which are animal -friendly. A cozy room in the garden house costs from £ 610 per night, including breakfast.

Where to eat?

Make memories with a blowout meal in the garden house – here is a real sensation, the food is fresh, whereby a lot from the walled vegetable garden next door and the employees absolutely want to report on new menu selection or flavor combinations.

A lot was written about the star selection, the Japanese -inspired grill of the dining room. The eight -course tasting menu costs £ 125 per person (or £ 250 with wine pairings). Chef Wojciech Popow has improved his skills in restaurants such as Noma in Copenhagen and Yashin in West London. The typical dishes include Japanese red sea bream (Madai) Nigiri with Tosa Soy and Festival Cornish Wood -Ans.

Ms. Beecham’s is a relaxed, child -friendly matter. There are many options for gastropub type.

A dinner in the Garden House and Breakfast (included in your room price) in MRS Beecham’s is an efficient way to experience both environments. Breakfast can also be ordered into the room without additional fees being tempting if you have to create the view from your four poster bed.

Facilities are open to guests even after checking out. So you don’t have to hurry at 11 a.m. Instead, go to the Coach House Spa to get a last swim, book a treatment or a paddle game to extend the summer vacation.

All the fun is of course not saved for the child -free. Parents of children at school age who managed to navigate summer vacation camps for six weeks, torture slow tours through the M25 or a few broken days on the medication and their day jobs earn some peace and relaxation in this semester.
