Brendan Rogers makes the Celtic Kelechi iheanacho despite the Middlesbrough fight

Brendan Rodgers believes that Celtic gets the former striker of Manchester City and Leicester Kelechi Iheanacho “right in his highlights” – despite the struggle for the striker in Middlesbrough last season.

The 28-year-old Nigeria International on Tuesday evening on Tuesday evening, Free Agent, completed a move to the Hoops in good time in order to register for the club’s upcoming Europa League campaign.

Iheanacho has joined a one -year deal, with the Scottish masters the possibility of another year.

The move combines the striker with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers under which he played in Leicester, where he had spent seven years between 2017 and 2024 after he had come from Manchester City.

Iheanacho, a FA Cup winner in 2021 with the Foxes, moved to Seville last summer and changed in January after his time in Spain was not planned.

But his Boro stint was a disappointment, with the striker only achieved once in 15 appearances for Michael Carrick’s side.

Despite this fight, Rodgers is confident that he can get the best in the striker in Glasgow.

“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to a team,” said the manager of the Celtic website. β€œHe is such a talented player with great ability, sportiness and work rate.

“I am sure he will love to be at Celtic, and I think our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his maximum years so that he can be a great signing for us. I am sure that he will make a big contribution to the team.”

The arrival of iheanacho has the opportunity to fill up the Celtic strike after the sale of Kyogo Furuhashi in January and Adam Idah on Monday.
